III. Purpose and Application of the Asphalt Sampling Device

This method is suitable for collecting samples of various asphalt materials at production plants or delivery/inspection locations to verify the quality of asphalt products.

The sample quantities required for routine testing of asphalt properties are as follows: at least 1.5 kg for viscous or solid asphalt; at least 1 liter for liquid asphalt; and at least 4 liters for asphalt emulsion.

The amount of asphalt required for unconventional tests on asphalt properties and performance tests on asphalt mixtures should be determined based on actual needs.

IV. Asphalt Sampler Specifications and Models

500ml, 1000ml Material: Stainless steel and PTFE, with liquid asphalt sampling containers also available.

V. Precautions for Using the Asphalt Sampler

1. Secure one end of the antistatic sampling rope to ground, and firmly connect the other end of the antistatic sampling rope to the full-length sampler.

2. Before sampling, first touch the container with your hand to discharge static electricity;

3. Lower the full-length sampler to the desired sampling location at a speed no greater than 1 meter per second. Then, firmly pull upward on the anti-static sampling rope—bubbles will emerge as oil enters the sampler. Once the bubbling stops, carefully lift out the full-length sampler, transfer the sample, and you’ve successfully completed the sampling process. After finishing, wipe the sampler dry and store it properly.

4. When removing the petroleum product sampler, ensure it avoids touching the metal oil tank as much as possible to prevent static discharge.
