Rigid Foam Water Absorption Rate Slicer

I. Introduction

The rigid foam sample slicer is an integral part of determining the water absorption rate of rigid foam plastics. The main components of the rigid foam sample slicer include a sample-holding groove, a sample-thickness adjuster, and clamping screws. The role of the sample-placement adjuster is to securely hold the sample in place while allowing precise adjustment of the sample slice thickness.

III. Specific Parameters

1. Slicer minimum slice thickness: 0.1–0.4 mm;

2. Specimen size: 50 × 50 × 100 mm;

3. External Dimensions: 120 * 120 * 140mm

4. Effective stroke: 25 mm

IV. Instructions for Use

1. Adjust the specimen thickness regulator to the 25mm mark, loosen the sample clamping screw, place the 50x50mm specimen into the mounting slot, and then tighten the sample clamping screw firmly to secure the specimen.

2. Use a slicing knife to trim away excess sample along the surface of the slicer platform. To ensure the top surface of the sample is perfectly flat, adjust the slicing thickness regulator to 0.3 mm, then carefully use the slicing knife to cut the sample flush with the edges.

3. The slice thickness regulator adjusts to the desired slice thickness (turning clockwise advances the sample into the cutting position, while turning counterclockwise retracts the sample back into the sample-holding slot). However, you should account for the blade thickness—typically around 0.15–0.2 mm. For example, when slicing at 0.1 mm, you should set the regulator to approximately 0.3 mm before using the microtome to cut the section.
