I. Equipment Features

This device is a vacuum saturation apparatus designed according to the "Sample Preparation and Saturation" chapter of the OB/T50123-1999 Geotechnical Testing Methods Standard (vacuum pump sold separately).

This device is made from stainless steel and features a large size (Ø270 × 300) as well as a lightweight design.

When saturating soil samples using this device, please follow GB/T50123-1999 , Follow the steps described in section 3.2.4 to load the sample: Connect this device to a vacuum pump using a vacuum rubber tube, then start the vacuum pump. Gently apply slight pressure to the vacuum lid by hand—this will cause the vacuum gauge to indicate the current vacuum level, confirming that the device is functioning properly.

After vacuuming, the vacuum lid will slightly curve inward due to atmospheric pressure—this is a normal phenomenon.

III. Operating Instructions

First, open the plastic cap on top of the vacuum pump and add vacuum oil until it reaches about halfway up the side glass viewing window. Next, insert the plastic tube into a copper tube, then connect the other end to any interface on the acrylic cover. After that, place the acrylic cover securely onto the container, close one of the valves that isn’t connected to a tube, and open the valve linked to the vacuum pump. Finally, plug the vacuum pump into the power outlet and turn on the pump switch to begin evacuating the air—continue pumping until the vacuum gauge reaches the desired reading. -0.1mpa Depending on the specific experimental requirements, after the vacuum level meets the standard, first close the valve, then turn off the vacuum pump, and finally maintain the pressure. Otherwise, the vacuum oil may easily be drawn back into the container.

IV. Important Notes:

1. Always add oil to the vacuum pump before connecting it to the power supply and starting operation; otherwise, the machine may easily get damaged. (For detailed instructions on using the vacuum pump, refer to the manual included with the pump or consult a professional—do not attempt to disassemble or repair it yourself.)

2. After the vacuum requirement is met, be sure to close the valve first, then turn off the vacuum pump, and finally maintain the pressure—otherwise, the vacuum oil may easily be drawn back into the container.

3. Smoking during the operation of the vacuum pump is a normal phenomenon—this is water vapor evaporating from the oil.

4. If the vacuum pump oil level drops, immediately stop operation and add oil until it reaches the oil tank's marked line.
