III. Purpose and Application of the Asphalt Sampling Device

This method is applicable to the collection of samples of various asphalt materials at production plants or at delivery and acceptance locations for the purpose of inspecting the quality of asphalt products.

The sampling quantities for routine tests on asphalt properties are as follows: no less than 1.5 kg for viscous or solid asphalt; no less than 1 L for liquid asphalt; and no less than 4 L for asphalt emulsion.

The amount of asphalt required for conducting unconventional tests on asphalt properties and asphalt mixture property tests should be determined based on actual needs.

IV. Specifications and Models of Asphalt Samplers

500ml and 1000ml; Material: stainless steel and PTFE; liquid asphalt sample containers are also available.

V. Precautions for Using Asphalt Samplers

1. One end of the antistatic sampling rope is securely grounded, while the other end is firmly connected to the full-length sampler.

2. Before sampling, touch the tank body with your hand first to discharge any static electricity.

3. Lower the full-length sampler to the desired sampling location at a speed no greater than 1 meter per second. Firmly pull upward on the anti-static sampling rope. As oil flows in, bubbles will emerge. Once no more bubbles are visible, withdraw the full-length sampler, transfer the sample, and you will have completed the sampling process. After sampling is finished, wipe the full-length sampler dry and store it properly.

4. When removing the petroleum product sampler, ensure it does not come into contact with the metal oil tank as much as possible to avoid static discharge.

When withdrawing the petroleum product sampler, avoid touching the metal oil tank as much as possible to prevent electrostatic discharge.
