Uses
The penetration tester is designed and manufactured in accordance with the technical requirements and relevant provisions stipulated in the People’s Republic of China National Standard GB/T 4509 “Method for Determination of Penetration of Petroleum Asphalt,” GB/T 269 “Method for Determination of Penetration of Lubricating Greases and Petroleum Fats,” and the People’s Republic of China Transportation Industry Standard JTG/E 052-2000 “Test Procedures for Asphalt and Asphalt Mixtures in Highway Engineering”—specifically T0604 “Asphalt Penetration Test.” It is primarily suitable for the measurement of the following two categories of products:
1. Asphalt: A test specimen is placed in a constant-temperature bath maintained at 25°C ± 0.1°C. A standard needle and a standard penetration cone, each subjected to a load of 100 g ± 0.05 g, are allowed to move vertically without significant friction. The depth to which the needle penetrates the asphalt specimen within 5 seconds is defined as the asphalt penetration value, which is used to assess the viscosity of the asphalt. The greater the penetration value, the lower the viscosity and the softer the asphalt.
2. Grease: The test sample is placed in a constant-temperature bath maintained at 25°C ± 0.1°C, with a standard cone weighing 150 grams. Under conditions of no significant friction, the cone is allowed to move vertically, and the depth to which it penetrates into the grease or petroleum jelly within 5 seconds is defined as the cone penetration of the grease or petroleum jelly, which is used to assess its consistency—whether it is soft or hard.
3. In addition to the two primary applications mentioned above, this instrument can also be used for materials such as fine solid particles, powders, colloids, and frozen substances, as well as cheese, gum syrup, butter, margarine, cream,
Inspection of food ingredients such as fermentation products, in the food industry, transportation and highway engineering, and other industries.
It can be widely applied across all departments.
Technical Indicators
1. Penetration timing device: Adjustable in increments of 1 to 99 seconds, with a timing accuracy of ±0.1 second.
2. Penetration-depth device: Employs a high-precision displacement sensor for digital display, offering convenient, rapid, and intuitive operation; it can be initiated from any position.
3. Penetration accuracy: ±1 penetration unit.
4. Maximum penetration depth: 500 penetration units.
5. Constant-temperature bath: made of hard glass.
6. Lifting and lowering bracket: Manually adjustable for precise alignment of the needle tip or cone tip with the specimen surface.
Key Instructions
1. Lighting button: used to turn the lighting on and off.
2. Setting key: Allows adjustment of the penetration time duration and can also be used for sensor calibration.
3. Start button: Used to energize the solenoid, causing the plunger to descend, or for entering parameter increment values.
