The waterproof membrane soluble content tester is designed according to GB328 for analyzing the soluble content of waterproof membranes. It is the *instrument equipment for physical testing of various waterproof membranes. Its heating device uses an electric heating jacket, with adjustable temperature, no open flame, and enhanced safety.

    Soxhlet Extractor

    1. Solvent
Chloroform or trichloroethylene, industrial or chemically pure.
    2. Instruments
    a. Analytical balance: sensitivity 0.001g or 0.0001g
    b. Extractor: 500ml Soxhlet extractor
    c. Heater: electric stove or water bath with electric or steam heating device,
    d. Drying oven: with constant temperature control device
    e. Brush: fine soft brush or pen
    f. Weighing bottle or dish
    g. Nickel-plated tongs or tweezers
    h. Desiccator: diameter 250–300mm
    i. Metal stand or clip
    j. Soft rubber hose
    k. Filter paper: diameter not less than 150mm
    l. Paper cutter and cotton thread

    Sample Preparation

Cut three samples of 100×100mm, gently brush clean to remove loose separating materials, weigh separately, and calculate the unit area weight of the membrane.

    Testing Procedure

Wrap the three weighed samples with filter paper and tie with cotton thread. Weigh the three samples together with the filter paper as G. Place the filter paper package into the extractor, heat and extract with the specified solvent (solvent volume is 1/2 to 2/3 of the flask capacity) until the reflux solvent is colorless. Remove the filter paper package to allow the adsorbed solvent to evaporate first. Dry in a preheated drying oven at 105–110°C for 1 hour, then cool to room temperature in a desiccator.
Weigh the cooled filter paper package together with a pre-weighed weighing box or dish, subtract the weight of the weighing box, which is the weight P of the filter paper package after extraction.
The soluble content is calculated according to formula A1.
    A = K (G - P)
    Where A — soluble content, g/m²
G — weight of filter paper package before extraction, g
    K — coefficient, K = 100 / m
P — weight of filter paper package after extraction, g
The arithmetic mean of the soluble content of the three samples is taken as the soluble content of the membrane.
